We are nearing our departure and time is speeding by as we pack and organize our trips necessities. As we cram everything (water filters, water quality testers, clothes, shoes, bug spray, rain coats, computers, cameras, digital equipment, toiletries, books, passports, etc.) as neatly as possible into a total of four suitcases, we feel nothing but joy, thankfulness, and gratitude towards all those who have supported us this far.
Tomorrow is the last day of our iPad and iPod fundraiser event! This year has been a wonderful success, we have officially met our minimum fundraising goal for El Salvador's Water Mission, and our two winners of the Mac prizes will be announced June 1st. Good luck to you all!
It is a beautiful and humbling experience to be able to bring some of the most basic needs to the people of El Salvador. We are so excited about this opportunity! We can all do something; its not too late, too big, or too hopeless. Its not about countries, nations, governments, or statistics. Its about people. We want to thank everyone who has taken part in this collaborative effort to make a positive difference in our world, thank you.
"...statistics from El Salvador, for example, indicate that the poorest 20% of households spend more than 10% of their total income on water. In the United Kingdom authorities define spending of more than 3% of one's income on water as a hardship." -http://www.answers.com/topic/drinking-water-wordnet
