Visiting the Orphanage

Today I went to the orphanage to see the kids.  I had to bring Tatayana a pair of new shoes that Steph and I had bought her because her old shoes fell apart.  From where we live now it is a little more difficult to find a bus to get to the orphanage.  I took a taxi to the Metro Bus station and from there I took the Metro Bus to the terminal about 40 minutes away and then from there I took a bus that cost me .5 cents that dropped me off near the orphanage.  And when I say drop you off, it is because that is what happens.  You literally jump off a cruising bus.  They do not slow it down for a full stop and if they do it is your lucky day.
When I got to the orphanage I was so excited to see the kids.  I always feel so special getting so many great big hugs.  After getting Tatayana her shoes, which by the way fit perfectly I went to go check on the babies.  They had just recieved a new baby boy who had been found abandoned in a room up in the mountains.  We are guessing he is anywhere from 6-8 months old.  He is chunky so for now we just call him "Gordito"which mean little fat one.  He is so cute and has one big bruise on his face but other than that he is fine.  He didn't want to take a bottle and cried a little bit but I finally got him to sleep.  There are now 10 babies to take care of there.  It is so busy and the kids so deserately need attention and love. I went over to baby John's crib just to talk to him and he grabbed my hands so tight.  I picked him up and he squeezed his hands around my neck and lay his head on my shoulder.  Because there are so many babies they often don't get the love and attention they need and they are so desperate for someone to give it to them.
I went and picked up Jonathan and Stefania from their daycare and brought them back.  They were so excited to see me at their school.  They immediately asked if I had gum or candy and of course I did. :)
Finally when I left for the day a friendly worker came with me, took me to a bus station where I was able to find a bus to take me very close to my house.  Some people are so giving with their time.  It was so kind of her since she lived in the opposite direction.  It was a wonderful day! Carrie
